The Mad Dash Race

For the past four years, my family has led a charity 5K and 10K race in our town of Rhinebeck. 100% of the proceeds go  to locally-run charities. There are also mini-dashes for the kids. I work to help prepare for the race, gather sponsors, stuff envelopes and help with other odds and ends. On race day, I help run the mini-dashes with the little kids. It is wonderful to see our whole community come out in support of local charities such as the Food Pantry, multiple homeless shelters, Dutchess County SPCA (my favorite!)and many more. This year, the Mad Dash hosted over 500 runners and raised over $12K!

Rhinebeck High School Percussion Manager

Over the past four years, I have volunteered in different roles to help improve and evangalize the Rhinebeck music program. This year I was selected as Percussion Manager. Throughout high school, I have helped provide accompaniment for other musicians in the high school and middle school, helped setup and take down musical performances and held fundraisers to help pay for musical instruments. As you can tell, I love music and I feel it is a critical part of our education!

Vacation Bible School Counselor

For many years I have helped lead our church's vacation bible school, a one week low cost summer camp for local kids (open to all relgious faiths). The past three years I was a counselor, which meant teaching a group of kids throughout the camp, as well as helping to plan curriculum and activities for the kids. I love working with kids and it was so much fun! (In this picture my brother and I were dressed as Harry Potter and Hermione Granger for the kids.)
